LUCY VICTORIA DAVIS
Biography
Lucy Victoria Davis has been drawing for as long as she can remember. For Lucy, drawing is a passion that runs through her veins. Inheriting her talent and love for the arts and fashion from her parents, both sculptors and painters, Lucy grew up surrounded by fabric, paint, clay, and color. However, her go-to choice has always been pencil, paper… and fabric! Lucy’s mother, Philomena, fondly recalls Lucy as a little girl, sitting with her pens and papers amidst scraps of fabric strewn all around, playing with the textures, running the fabrics through her fingers, and drawing.
“For me, drawing is therapeutic; it creates a deep connection between the body and the soul. I completely lose myself. It's my Zen moment when everything flows."
After studying fine art, Lucy went on to pursue a degree in the History of Art and Design with Spanish at Middlesex University. This journey led her to a career in graphic design and communication, eventually allowing her to run a design studio in London. She later became a design and communications consultant in Barcelona, where she currently resides.
Throughout her professional career, Lucy has maintained a deep love for fashion and a passion for drawing. In recent years, she has focused on fashion illustration, particularly live fashion sketching.
"I have always loved fashion and drawing people. I am particularly fascinated by the interaction between clothing and the human body, which is why I enjoy attending fashion shows. I love sketching the models as they walk and pose, capturing how the clothes move. I like to emphasize the shoulders, waist, and hips in all their twists and turns."
In 2016, Lucy made her debut as a live fashion sketcher at the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week. She never misses this event, along with the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week. At these shows, Lucy has the opportunity to capture the glamour of the catwalk and the secrets of backstage in just seconds.
"I love sitting among the photographers at the end of the catwalk or moving through the chaos backstage. I guess you could say I thrive on the excitement of sketching the incredible models, listening to the music, and soaking up the theatrical atmosphere. I relish the challenge of having only a few seconds to capture a detail, a pose, or a movement."
Lucy is a fashion artist and illustrator and works from her studio in Terrassa. She has established a long professional career both here in Spain and in the United Kingdom, with works published in Vogue Spain, Novias España, El País, El Periódico, La Vanguardia, NP Magazine, Wedding Media International, and TimeOut Barcelona.
Lucy’s Live Fashion Sketching has evolved naturally from her work on the catwalk and is now a sought-after service for private parties, events, and weddings. The elegant, spontaneous, and stylish nature of Lucy's drawings leaves guests amazed and grateful to take home an original and personalized fashion sketch of their outfits. Without a doubt, Live Fashion Sketching offers a unique experience and makes for the perfect gift for guests at any memorable wedding or party.
“By bringing my Live Fashion Sketching from the catwalk to a wedding or luxury event, I capture, in a moment, the looks and sophistication of the beautiful, fun, and elegant guests.”
Lucy is now also a published author. Her book, “Sketching Fashion: Una historia práctica de la ilustración de moda,” is a testament to her passion for art and fashion illustration as a discipline. She also shares this passion with her “Drawing Fashion” educational workshops she runs for schools and colleges.
“I believe it's important to give back, and through my educational workshops, I aim to share my experiences, passion, and skills with future generations—perhaps inspiring future fashion illustrators.”
