Inspirations. 20th-Century Fashion Illustrated is a visual journey through 20th-century women’s fashion, showcasing spectacular dresses that have inspired unique illustrations by artist Lucy Victoria Davis. The exhibition also features a selection of vintage magazines with drawings by various artists, created using a wide range of illustration techniques.
The exhibition catalogue is available at the museum library and for purchase. It includes insightful articles on the evolution of fashion decade by decade, as well as features on influential fashion illustrators throughout history, among many other topics.
The catalogue is trilingual, in Catalan, Spanish, and English.

The book you have in your hands is a fascinating journey through the milestones that have marked the history of fashion illustration. It begins with Renaissance engravings, the first tool to graphically represent clothing, continues with the fashion plates from newspapers and magazines that had so much influence in the 18th and 19th centuries, and ends with a tour of the names that, throughout the 20th, elevated this discipline to the category of art: George Barbier, Georges Lepape, René Gruau, Kenneth Paul Block, Antonio Lopez and Tony Viramontes, among many others.
